$f7a|1-So then, the internet, eh?

Don't talk to me about the internet. It has hogged a part of my life
that I know I will never get back. It came in, during the night, raped
and buggered me silly then left without a trace. It IS boring when you
find a really interesting site as everyone else in the world thinks it
is interesting too and consequently they, as well as you, are trying to
grab the same picture of Tyra Banks. It can take anything from a couple
of seconds up to a good half an hour to access the internet. I'm lucky,
as my internet service is provided free at Uni, where I don't have to
worry about a fone bill. A usual download is a little less than twenty
megs, but depending on what you find, you could be there for hours.

Gee I don't know Daz. Oh yeah.. got any new Renee Zellweger pix? ;)

The best site for Amiga utilities (if you're on holiday visiting our
planet) is the Aminet. Not just because it is the definitive database
for utilities, but because it is generally very fast. They've recently
upgraded their server or something and it has made a vast improvement
(I'm talking about the server at src.doc.ic.ac.uk). Of course, their
are other things to do on the internet other than surf the world wide
web. There's IRC.
I've only just recently just obtained a copy of MIRC for Windows
*-blech-*, and gained access onto IRC. The only thing is, I'm on it
during the day and not many UK Amigans are on, but there are some very
busy and talkative channels at times.

FTP/Gopher/Telnet sites are abundantly available. Each have their own
commands at a sort of DOS prompt (however, there are GUI's that ease the
use of FTP). Many BBS's are allowing Telnet users to log on (although I
haven't done this yet). FTP and gopher are basically the same thing,
only Gopher presents you with a menu system that is a little easier to
use than the basic FTP interface.
What else is out there? Urm.. http/ftp/gopher/telnet/irc... I think
that's yer lot. This is just a very vague, general idea about the
internet that I thought I would share with you.
